What is the difference between an open awning, semi cassette and full cassette awning and what style of awning will best suit my property?
With open awnings, the mechanisms and rollers remain exposed, although a protective top cover can be incorporated for piece of mind. The design of semi-cassette awnings provides protection against the weather to the roller and mechanism, both from above and below. The underside of the semi-cassette awning is open, because the all-round protection guaranteed by a cassette awning is not a necessity in every situation. Full cassette awnings style provides the perfect protection for the roller, cover and the complete arm system – because they are all stored in a closed cassette. When retracted, the moving arm part closes and seals the cassette: meaning that foul weather, wind and dirt cannot penetrate. Roché will offer advice on product suitability catering for both design and budgetary restraints.
All Roché awnings are custom manufactured to specific sizes. Traditional folding arm awnings can span widths from 1.5m to 7m in a single unit. Projections ranging from 1m to 4m are available. If larger areas require coverage then units can be coupled and / or frame based fabric roof systems can be installed. Fabric roof awnings, for example, can project up to 7m.
Manual awnings are available, but remote control electronic operation is a standard feature with a Roché awning. Automatic sun and wind sensors are fitted so that the awning retracts during wind and extends when the sun shines.
Roché awnings not only protect your family from the sun’s harsh UV rays, they also help to prevent your valuable furnishings from fading and reduce the internal temperature of your home.
Ultimately a Roché awning will expand your home into your garden and integral lighting ensures ample opportunity for evening use.
Your awning is primarily for sun protection, but it will also offer a degree of all weather protection dependent on model and fabric choice.
All Roché electronic awnings are fitted with wind sensors as standard, so that the awning will retract if wind speed reaches a level that threatens the integrity of the product. However, please note that any safety sensor is a back up support device. It is imperative that the operator exercises due diligence and retracts the awning if the integrity of the product is threatened by wind.
Standard folding arm patio awnings and their fabrics are shower proof, but not waterproof. Providing the awning is fitted at an angle of 14’ or more, rainwater will run off the front profile offering excellent protection from showers. Nevertheless, standard folding arm awnings should be retracted in heavier rain and it is imperative that the operator exercises due diligence and retracts the awning if the integrity of the product is threatened by rain.
N.B. Polyester based waterproof fabrics and specific products have been designed to offer greater all weather protection and are available on request. If total waterproofing is required, options should be discussed with your site surveyor or the Roché office. Nevertheless, it is imperative that the operator exercises due diligence and retracts the awning if the integrity of the product is threatened by wind or rain.
Awnings have little or no snow loading capability and should be retracted when snow is forecast or falling.
Roché awning frames and cassettes can be powder coated in a wide range of up to 47 RAL colours as standard to match the façade, windows or even your garden furniture.
Roché offer a huge variety of over 200 fabric choices to customers. Each awning designer has preferred fabric suppliers, but due to the superior quality of the awnings we market, we can interchange according to specific customer requirements.
Lighting and heating systems can be incorporated to enhance any applications and can be integrated or retro fitted, dependent on model. Operation can be via remote control or wired switching.
